Syria is one of the larger states of the Middle East and has its capital and largest city in Damascus.The best time to visit Syria is during the summers and winters. Al Azm Palace: this is one of the most beautiful historical Islamic palaces in the world. The architectural beauty of the Palace embodies the traditional Damascene house with its colorful marbles, cascading fountain, peaceful courtyard and different quarters. Today the Azm Palace houses the Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions in Damascus.
Saladin Castle: is another magnificent example of castle architecture. This castle is a proverbial fortress, featuring walls that are five meters thick and a trench nearly 30 meters deep surrounding it. Towers, stables, a cistern and a palace with baths are still visible within the castle walls today.
Souq al-Hamidiyya: is an open air market at the entrance of the Old City of Damascus. Visitors can find everything from handicrafts made by locals to mass produced merchandise being sold here.
