  • The Ancient Ruins of Tiahuanaco: Tiahuanaco, sometimes spelled "Tiwanaku", was the ceremonial epicentre of Andean culture and boasts ruins of the Puerta del Sol (Sun Gate), temples, monoliths. It also has a museum where knowledge about Andean culture is collected. Tiwanaku is arguably the oldest city on earth.

In February/March, the otherwise sleepy town if Oruoro wakes up to host the second biggest carnival in the world; the Oruoro carnival. The carnival features folk dances, beautiful crafts, lively music, and nonstop partying.
