St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a country that is made up of 32 islands and cays, with an estimated population of 110,000 people. Its capital city, Kingstown has many attractions, which includes the St. George’s Anglican Cathedral, St. Mary’s Catholic cathedral, the St. Vincent Botanical Garden, home to a variety of species including the Vincent Parrot which has the most beautiful plumage.

St. Vincent is the largest of the islands, and the country is sometimes just called St. Vincent. It is a former British colony and its official language is English. Its people are predominantly Christian.

The island has a beautiful scenery and a range of activities can be engaged in, from swimming to diving to hiking. The best time to travel is December to April as the hurricane season in the Caribbean is from June to November.

St. Vincent has a vibrant and multi-cultural community with music as a big part of the community, there a number of festivals across the country, such as:

There is also a network of roads that facilitates moving about, however, due to the rocky nature of some terrain, some roads aren’t complete. For history buffs and art lovers, the national museum at Bequia is a place that could be of interest.

The highest point on St Vincent is the peak of La Soufrière, and you can hike up the trail that leads to it. Other places you can visit are:
  • Canouan beaches
  • Falls of Baleine, a water fall from volcano slopes
  • Mustique, this is a privately owned island with white sand beaches
  • Mount Parnassus
  • Tobago Cays, where you can sail and carry out other water sports in seclusion.
